As we approach the end of January, how many of us have stuck to our New Year’s Resolutions? 🤔
It’s time to reframe our ‘resolutions’ from TIME-BOUND GOALS to HABITS.

Our Team Performance and Leadership Coach Adam Daniel MBA, with a successful career history as an elite athlete, shares his 7 Steps to Creating and Embedding Effective Habits. So, to avoid disappointing yourself, give them a go:

✅ Be Specific vs. General – be clear on the specific habit you want to set and ensure it is tangible and realistic.
✅ Focus on the prompt – determine what needs to be in place for the habit to be prompted so you are reminded to action it.
✅ One habit at a time – focus on embedding one habit first before you introduce new ones.
✅ Little and often – repeat the habit within a pattern and don’t overwhelm yourself with actions.
✅ Create a chain – never miss the habit more than twice in a row.
✅ 1% better – celebrate small successes and build incrementally over time.
✅ Focus on creating new habits – give up trying to break old ones, and instead create new effective habits that will override old ones.

For example, we often hear the resolution: I will stop back-to-back meetings because it is energy draining.

It’s not realistic.

This can be reframed as a new habit: I will stretch to increase energy before meetings. This is a specific habit, prompted by the start/end of meetings, is only action you need to, can be done several times a day, involves something new vs changing what you’re doing. Ultimately, you will feel more energised going into each meeting.

Lose the guilt of not doing what you said you would. Put in place one new habit today – you will thank yourself and your team will too!
