These are International General Counsel experiencing our signature Courageous methods to transform team communication, decision making and ways of working. Kudos to them for having a go at a completely different way of thinking about their challenges!
The GCs are holding two resistance bands and balancing on one leg while passing balls along the team to slam dunk at the other end – creating tension, balance, pace and agility issues.

We did this to simulate the issues they deal with on a daily basis, including keeping balls in the air, challenges arising unexpectedly, managing stakeholder relationships, managing risk, communicating clearly, seeing the bigger picture and making decisions efficiently.

It was fascinating to run this simulation twice with pause for reflection on learnings in between. They competed the simulation more efficiently and quickly with less than 10 minutes to reflect. Essentially, it became really obvious how to improve communication, balance, pace and coordination.

You can’t get these quick shifts sitting in a chair in the office…!

Neuroscience tells us that engaging the mind and body together helps you think differently and get to new perspectives more quickly. From there, you can learn and put in place new behaviours.

This was a group of general counsel from different companies – imagine if you did this with your own team?!

Thank you to Global Leaders in Law (GLL) for inviting us to facilitate this Leadership Lab at your GC Exchange. πŸ™
