It’s Monday morning with a monster week ahead of coaching, client development sales meetings. Time is of the essence but I cannot start a week like this without being prepared mentally and physically. Here’s what works for me and it’s very much based on the parallels of leadership, self leadership and fitness(as you would expect by now!) Take from it whatever might work for you:
1) Mindset is everything, so I do something difficult before I start the working day. Ahead of challenging meetings and work, it helps to tell myself ‘I can do difficult things’.

2) There’s a discomfort to building physical muscle which we can choose to work through. If we want to grow professionally, we have no choice but to be prepared for the intellectual and emotional discomfort involved in acquiring new skills and relationships.

3) To get stronger in the physical sense, it is optimal to warm up and cool down. Professionally, we may let others down if we don’t choose to prepare comprehensively. Equally, if we skip the process of reflection, then we won’t achieve or learn as much as possible.

I haven’t always been this disciplined but I feel more in control, more self aware and stronger for every aspect of life if I make the choice to embrace challenge as a force for good. Don’t get me wrong, there are days when it doesn’t happen but as that’s the exception, I don’t get frustrated by it.

Have a great Monday and a productive week of learning, achieving and being your best self. πŸ‘Š
